Foster update: Patty is the DREAM dog! She is already a neighborhood celebrity with her beautiful blue eyes and cuddly snuggles. She is a super quick learner and acclimates to new environments quickly. Patty is definitely a people person and loves to meet her neighbors on the stairs. We are working on her leash manners and she is getting better about tugging and walking alongside me, she gets very curious and loves to sniff around, but is overall pretty good on her leash. Patty has been an angel in the crate, both at night and during the day, with the help of the Kong and some peanut butter. She always sleeps through the night, so long as she has some good exercise throughout the day. Patty loves a good morning nap after breakfast and is super easy going during the day, she will start getting antsy for her evening walk around 5 or 6 pm. Patty is a super quiet pup and rarely barks. The only times she has barked is about food that she isn't getting (she loves the smell of burritos!!) Patty didn't know any basic commands when she first came, but we have been working on "sit" and she's an old pro now! We are working on "shake" now--food will get her to do most anything! Patty can be a bit wary about small staircases and grates on the sidewalk but is getting used to them, she is super quick to get comfortable in new places! Patty is completely house-trained and hasn't had any accidents in the house. She will get impatient and start looking out of the windows when she has to go outside, so that's always a good indicator she needs to go. We are on a pretty good schedule of two long walks--morning and night--and a shorter bathroom break mid-day around 1-2 pm. Patty is incredibly friendly and nonreactive to sounds or other animals/people. I believe she would do excellent with other dogs and/or kids. She's pretty large in size, but is truly the epitome of a gentle giant! Patty is 3 years old and looks like a Great Pyrenees mix. She is 60 pounds currently but is working up to a healthy weight of ~ 70 pounds. She is up to date on all age-appropriate medical care and microchipped.
