Foster update: The first couple of hours I had Hula, he was very content to do his own thing. He slept away on the living room floor and didn't show too much interest in saying hello to people. "He doesn't seem massively affectionate", I thought. Man was I wrong. After a couple of hours of adjusting to his surroundings....boom. The lovebomb went off. As soon as he gets to know people, this pupper is a cuddle machine. He absolutely loves to snuggle up next to people, with his favorite moves being (i) using your lap as a pillow to doze off; and (ii) doing a half on/half off thing on the couch where he gets lots of well deserved pets. Hulahoop will throw in a facelick or two here or there for good measure. On his walks, Hula is an absolute dream with no real pulling on the leash at all. This chubbabubba is enjoying taking in all the sights, sounds and smells of the new city and will occasionally stop to take his time and take it all in. But for the most part, he'll trot faithfully alongside his human companion, and will throw in several glaces up at his walker with those bluest of blue eyes to make sure he's doing everything right. He also seems to be completely housetrained. He currently has some stitches for a cut on his leg but this just means he bears a passing resemblance to Frankenweenie, which can only be a good thing. He'll briefly have a cone of shame on him until the stitches come out. He hasn't shown a ton of interest in toys yet (although did fall asleep on one). He's more interested in getting cuddled and if you throw a toy he'll look at you as if to say "why did you just throw that furry thing when you could have spent that time petting me?" Overall, this chonkadonk has been just about the dream dog. Hula is a 6-year-old Catahoula Shepherd mix from Kentucky who is 60lbs fully grown. He is up-to-date on all age-appropriate medical care and microchipped. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you are interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is fill out an adoption application at www.muddypawsrescue.org. We will be in touch with you within 7 days of receiving your application!
