It is important that you review your lease agreement and/or speak with your landlord prior to fostering a dog. Many landlords have restrictions on whether you can have pets, how many pets you can have and the type of pets allowed (including size and breed). Many landlords discriminate against certain breeds and some shelter dogs fall into that very generic category. Since DPA is 100% foster based and we do not have a kennel or shelter, if you are committing to foster an animal until they are adopted, there is no where for the dog to go if your landlord says they are not allowed. We expect that you are taking ownership for verifying the pet policy for your rental situation prior to fostering.
